It’s game on in Mumbai!

Having found a following in Pakistan, Strika’s cricket comic Supa Tigers is taking on India. With Idea Cellular as its headline sponsor, the first issue has appeared across Mumbai in The Times of India newspaper. Lovey Dua and Neetu Dhamija are the Strika team responsible for taking the story into new cricketing frontiers.

Preachin’ to the choir?

Are the team at Strika Entertainment about to cut their first record, Supa Treffers: Sokker Sokkie? Unfortunately… no. The merry Strika singers were actually pretending to chant in support of their fave Strika, El Matador. Check them out in episode 18 of our animated series, Supa Strikas: El Sound of Silencio. Illustrating, animating, marketing, and now singing! Is there any territory these guys won’t conquer?

Panama… let’s play ball!

Panamanian baseball legend Carlos Lee became a comic book hero this month with the launch of Strike Zone. The monthly Spanish-language comic, sponsored by Malta Vigor, charts Lee’s journey through Panama as he scouts for undiscovered talent. Once he’s assembled his squad, they’ll take on the world’s top teams in an international baseball league.

Chico and co. take on Egypt

The launch of Supa Strikas in Egypt was a major event for the likes of Shakes, North Shaw and Big Bo… or Chico, Tito and Bobo Al Kabeer, as they’re known in their new territory. 45 000 copies of the comic were distributed to cars passing between Cairo and Alexandria. Then another 45 000 copies were delivered to Caltex stations across the two cities, where they were handed out to motorists buying a minimum of 30 litres of fuel. The Egyptian version is the first Arabic translation of Supa Strikas, which means each frame of each comic page is flipped so it reads from right to left.
