Viva Súper Estrikas Viva!

To attract customers to their forecourts in Guatemala and Colombia, Texaco recently ran a promotion offering Súper Estrikas merchandise to motorists who purchased a certain amount of fuel. The promotion was a great success, increasing volume by 10% at certain stations as fans rushed to get their hands on caps, T-shirts, DVDs, thermo mugs… and of course the latest comic installment of cool soccer action!

Supa Strikas goes into extra time

In a world first for Supa Strikas, the soccer story has gone on sale in East Africa as a stand-alone publication. Supa Strikas Extra Time contains the full 15-page comic plus extra pages loaded with news and trivia about the English Premier League and its stars. It’s fantasy meets reality as Shakes and his teammates appear alongside the likes of Ronaldo and Rooney. The new-look publication also features games, competitions and comments from readers… and so far Supafans in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda have given it a hearty thumbs-up.

Good Heavens (sorry Lucy, we couldn’t resist)

Lucy Heavens wants to make it clear that this is indeed her real name and not a stage name… even though she comes from an acting and writing background. Lucy joined Strika three months ago to work on the second Supa Strikas animation series. She’s developing stories for the next 13 episodes, and reviewing the animatics (storyboards) produced by the Malaysia-based animation team. So with Lucy on board, it’s all systems go for Season Two!
